A Bitter Sweet Day

Ingrid started school today. We also got news about some changes at work.

I am grateful that Ingrid’s first day went well; Bella supported her and also played with her during lunchtime.

However, the news from work brought uncertainties to our lives again.

I sometimes wonder if there is a set amount of luck we are allocated. When you have more than your share, it will be taken away.

Since 2021, my work has changed again and again just when I felt things had settled down a bit. Now more changes are coming.

I understand change is constant, but I sometimes wonder if there will be a day when I wake up without wondering what would happen.

I will feel better after some days; I always land on the positive side. What choice do we have but to carry on?

Feelings do pass

Work has been full on. I am learning a lot, but the same time there are many adhoc things added to my list. I will feel better in 3 months.

When Spring is here I will feel more at my own pace with work. Many things I find strange and challenging will make more sense. I will be more familiar with the process. I will know the people I work with better. I will build trust and better process with external people. I will be more confident in my ability to deliver.

This morning feeling stressed and unsure if I could finish things on my list. I still showed up, sat down and worked through the list. In the evening I attended another training session. By the end of day, the feeling of stress and uncertainty has eased a lot.

Feelings do pass. My thoughts are just thoughts, they are not real. Let feelings pass me through. I am allowed to feel all sorts, there is no need to fix a feeling.

I do believe the more I think the more problems come up. The more actions I take, the more answers I find.

There is a tendency to over think, plan and control. I am learning to let go, Focus on each moment right now, less anticipating the challenges in advance. Life is to be lived, not anticipated.

All I ever have, is now.

A full year

I realized last time I wrote was a year ago.

The purpose of this place might be to keep the past rather than creating the new.

I changed jobs again in September 2025. When we returned from our trip to Norway, I was made redundant along with 40 other people from the law firm.

Since February this year, I have been working with M at the same company and in the same team. It has been one change after another. I have been managing new places and new expectations quite well.

Ingrid will start school in two weeks. I can’t believe we won’t be driving to her daycare any longer. We have been driving there most mornings for the past 8 years, since Bella started. Life’s changes are marked by places you no longer visit. We have been through many significant events there. It’s a place where we experienced joy and sorrow with an extended group of people who are sharing a similar stage of life with us. I will always remember the kindness and love those wonderful teachers gave to my babies.

As I am typing away, Ingrid has woken up from her sleep. I guess it’s time to make her some breakfast.

I will try to remember to visit here often. Hope it’s sooner than a year.

Till then.
