Tech meltdown day

Went to two events today.

The first in the morning, the presenter had really interesting points to share but his screen keeps flickering. It seems due to network issue, it wont run smoothly. He tried his best to keep going. I felt the stress of the tech person at the venue , trying really hard to fix it. Half way through it finally got fixed. What I learnt was that the show must go on, and even if is clunky , sometime the best you can do is continue what you are doing, help is on the way.

Then I went to my best friend’s event. It was really good to be in a friendly and supportive environment of migrant women. The group came from a wide range of backgrounds, but we shared many similar experiences.I learned that dancing is good for the soul. We don’t stop dancing as we age; we age because we stop dancing.

Another speaker talked about what is on the surface and what lies beneath it. I’m good at identifying what is above the surface—my thoughts, feelings, and actions—but I’m not aware of what lies beneath the surface. I’m curious about why I’m easily triggered in certain situations and why there seems to be a pattern of things triggering my anxiety and anger as I age. I’m curious to learn more about this.At the event, the first speaker’s PowerPoint also didn’t work. It kept stopping, which made me think that maybe it was one of those days when technology wasn’t working smoothly.

At work today, someone made a comment about how I should do my job. This person has been doing this consistently. I promised myself that next year I will speak up more and make it clear what my job is. For this year, it is about learning, keeping my head down, and getting through it. There will be a time and place for everything. I have patience.

If I were to describe 2026 in terms of work, there is one word: discomfort. Every day, there is something new to learn, as each day brings a challenge. I hope next year will become a bit less intense. I am grateful for all the new things I gathered along the way, and I’m proud of how I carried myself. During the most stressful times, I still managed to treat others and, most importantly, myself with kindness.
